Tutoring
| Alta Vista Middle School offers
many tutoring programs. Several teachers allow students to come in before school begins if they need extra help.
We have tutoring after school every day except on Fridays from our Gear Up program and there are several teachers who give
up their afternoons after school to assist students. Please speak to your child's teacher and see if there are any programs
that can help your child succeed. |

Gear Up
Gear Up is designed to assist students with their daily work. It will focus on tutoring, organizational skills,
and coping skills. A teacher and an assistant will be assigned to work with students throughout the day. A class
period will be designated for these activities and students must give up an elective to enroll in this class.

MESA
Students in Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Association will be involved in a variety of activities throughout
the year. It will culminate with an out-of-town trip in the spring. A sponsor from our school will provide direction
for these students and they must be eligible to participate in the MESA program. This program is for all students and must
earn points throughout the year to be able to participate in some of the most exciting activities. We invite all
